Your child has been diagnosed with a hearing loss. Here's how to take the first steps to helping your child learn to listen and speak…

STEP 1

  • Call Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC at 604-437-0255
  • Our trained staff will be pleased to talk with you about your child. We have many years of experience working with families with babies, toddlers and young children with hearing loss and are here to assist you to make the right choices for your child.

STEP 2

  • Tour our facility, and meet our Executive Director/Principal, teachers of the deaf and hard-of-hearing and therapists.
  • We are here to answer any questions you have.
  • Talk to our on-site paediatric Audiologist.

STEP 3

  • Let us walk you through the options available to ensure your child receives the best possible early education.
  • We can arrange testing in order to advise on an appropriate hearing device for your child.

School Tuition

Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC is an independent non-profit school partially funded through tuition fees.  Families whose children are enrolled in our programs will receive a Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC bursary. The bursary does not apply for families receiving or eligible for government subsidies. Bursaries are renewable annually according to available funds. 

Tuition fees September 2011 to June 2012

Parent Guidance/Early Intervention (no fee charged for children birth to 3 years)*

Preschool 3 program - 9:00 am to noon - $3,750 annual fee (after bursary)

Pre-Kindergarten/Preschool 4, Kindergarten and Primary programs - 9:00 am to 3:00 pm - $4,750 annual fee (after bursary)

Before School Care - 8:00 am to 9:00 am - $1,000 annual fee

Afternoon Care - noon to 3:00 pm - $1,000 annual fee

After School Care - 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm - $1,250 annual fee

School fees are paid on a monthly basis.

Financial Support

Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC maintains a policy that all deaf and hard-of-hearing children, regardless of  a family's ability to pay fees, may be eligible for access to our programs.** To make this possible, Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC conducts fundraising activities throughout the year to secure support for bursaries. Scholarships and bursaries are available for qualifying families including Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and resident non-citizens holding work permits or student visas. Please inquire for further details.


* 100% of the fee is supported through Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC Bursary Program

** Any family requiring financial assistance to attend Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC may apply for a bursary for up to 100% of the basic tuition fee.
